Police Searching for Suspects in Break-In at Saquon Barkley’s Home
sandego.net – Police searching for suspects in break-in incidents at athletes’ residences has become increasingly common, and the Philadelphia Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley recently found himself at the center of such an investigation. Barkley and his family were the victims of an attempted burglary at their suburban Philadelphia home over the weekend, according to local law enforcement officials. This incident represents the latest break-in involving high-profile athletes in recent years, highlighting a growing concern for professional sports stars across the country.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Saturday when officers received a burglary-in-progress call at Barkley’s residence. Capt. Tyler Moyer of the Tredyffrin Township Police Department in Pennsylvania reported that when responding officers arrived at the scene, the suspects had already fled the property. At least one of the suspects was confirmed to be inside the house while Barkley and his family were present and sleeping.
Investigation Details and Suspect Description
Police are currently searching for suspects in connection with the break-in and have released information to help the public identify those responsible. Authorities are looking for at least two suspects and released a photo of a white SUV that may be connected to the case. “They were home, and fortunately, as you know, with any situation like this, our main concern is that the residents of that home at the time were unharmed, which they were,” Moyer explained to reporters. “They were fine afterwards, obviously unsettled, as anyone would be.”
“We are incredibly grateful that the Barkley family was not injured during this incident,” the Chester County District Attorney’s Office stated in a social media post. “We are asking the public to help us identify those responsible by checking any home security cameras for suspicious activity in the area around 5:00 a.m.”
Chester County detectives are actively assisting Tredyffrin Township police with the investigation, according to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office. The district attorney’s office has also requested that anyone who witnessed unusual activity or has video footage that may assist investigators contact the Tredyffrin Township Police Department immediately.
This incident follows a pattern of burglaries targeting professional athletes’ homes. In 2024, at least three professional sports leagues warned their teams that organized and skilled groups were specifically targeting the homes of players who were away at games. These warnings came after reports of burglaries at the homes of Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, among others.
Last year, the FBI announced it had uncovered an international theft ring that targeted a string of players including NBA forward Bobby Portis and NFL quarterback Joe Burrow. The Tredyffrin Township police plan to contact federal authorities to determine whether there’s a connection involving Barkley’s home. “We will look at all angles of this because we know, obviously, it’s been all over the news in the past few years about different professional athletes’ homes getting burglarized,” Moyer said.
