Savannah Guthrie returns to NBC’s Today show, as search for mother goes on
Savannah Guthrie Resumes Role on NBC’s Today Show Amid Ongoing Search for Missing Mother
Savannah Guthrie made her return to NBC’s Today show this week, marking her first appearance in the studio since January 30. The date coincides with two days prior to when her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie, was declared missing. Her mother vanished without her medications, leaving the family in distress.
The search for Nancy continues, with investigators suggesting she was abducted from her home in Tucson, Arizona. However, no suspect has been arrested, and the motive behind her disappearance remains unclear. Savannah, one of the most recognizable figures in American morning television, had temporarily stepped away from her duties after the incident.
“I still believe. And so I say with conviction, ‘Happy Easter,'” she declared in a closing message during a church service in New York. This statement came on Easter Sunday, reinforcing her faith amid the uncertainty.
Last month, Guthrie shared her resolve to return to work, stating it was “part of my purpose right now” to do so. Despite concerns about her ability to continue, she emphasized that her family was a priority. In an interview, she added, “I can’t not come back. This is my family,” highlighting her emotional connection to the situation.
During her absence, the family offered a $1 million reward for information leading to Nancy’s recovery. The mother had been dropped off at her residence on January 31 by relatives, only to fail to appear at a friend’s home the next day for a virtual Sunday service.
