Local Woman Fatally Injured in Dog Attack Incident

Essex Police confirmed the identity of a woman who succumbed to injuries after a dog attack at her residence. The 19-year-old victim, named locally as Jamie-Lea Biscoe, was discovered with critical wounds at 22:45 BST on Friday at Long Hide, a property in Leaden Roding, near Dunmow.

Emergency responders arrived promptly but were unable to save the woman, who passed away at the scene. A 37-year-old man from Dunmow was apprehended on suspicion of allowing a dog to act dangerously out of control, leading to fatal harm. The canine was confiscated, and specialist teams secured the area to prevent further risks.

A police cordon remained in place at the house on Sunday as investigations continued. Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper addressed the community, stating:

“This incident will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the local area. My thoughts and those of the entire Essex Police team are with the family and friends of the deceased. Experienced detectives are now leading efforts to determine the full sequence of events.”

The force invited the public to share any insights, surveillance footage, or dashcam recordings related to the case, referencing incident 1419 of 10 April. Meanwhile, St Michael and All Angels church announced plans to observe a prayer service and light candles at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon as a tribute.
