Woman, 19, killed in dog attack at house

A 19-year-old woman lost her life after being attacked by a dog at a residence in Essex. Emergency crews were dispatched to Long Hide, a location in the village of Leaden Roding, close to Dunmow, at 22:45 BST on Friday. Upon arrival, they discovered the woman in critical condition, with severe wounds. Despite immediate medical interventions, she was declared dead at the scene, according to Essex Police.

A 37-year-old man from Dunmow has been taken into custody on suspicion of allowing his dog to behave dangerously, resulting in a fatality. The canine was removed from the premises, and specialists ensured the area was secure before further actions were taken. The police have confirmed the arrest and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“This event will undoubtedly impact the local community deeply. My thoughts and those of the entire Essex Police team are with the family of the deceased,” stated Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper. He also noted that officers will be present in the area today to engage with residents and gather any relevant details or concerns. “Our dedicated detectives are handling the case to determine the exact sequence of events,” he added.
