Following the downing of a US fighter jet over Iran, Trump’s latest threat emerged after the successful rescue of a second crew member from the crash. The incident occurred deep within contested territory, with the pilot and second officer ejecting from the F-15 aircraft on Friday. Both were swiftly retrieved, but the search for the remaining US serviceman in southwestern Iran’s rugged terrain intensified the tension. This event unfolded amid over a month of hostilities, as Iran retaliated against US and Israeli air strikes with attacks on Gulf Arab allies.
Iran’s closure of the vital Hormuz Strait has disrupted global oil flow, causing prices to surge and inflation concerns to spread worldwide. Iran, in turn, launched drones and missiles at Israel and Gulf allies, with a ballistic missile directly damaging a residential building in Haifa, injuring four individuals.
