Police confirmed the tragic death of a three-month-old infant in what is believed to be a dog attack in Redcar.
Armed officers were dispatched to an address on Hardale Grove, Dormanstown, shortly after 13:30 BST on Thursday following reports of a child in danger.
Cleveland Police stated that they had destroyed two dogs—one on the street and another at the property—during their response to the incident.
A 45-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of allowing a dog to behave dangerously, leading to fatal injuries.
The suspect has been released on conditional bail pending further investigation.
Authorities indicated the infant’s death was likely caused by a dog bite.
A 31-year-old woman sustained an arm injury from a dog bite and was hospitalized for treatment.
Both dogs were examined by a specialist and were not identified as belonging to a restricted breed.
