Thursday morning’s shooting at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, concluded with the gunman’s death and two individuals hospitalized in critical condition, according to the institution’s emergency update. The incident unfolded in Constant Hall around 10:49 a.m., when the attacker initiated gunfire, prompting immediate action from campus security. The university released an urgent alert at 10:48 a.m., signaling a potential threat, and later classified the event as an “active shooter situation” by 11:30 a.m. Once the perpetrator was declared neutralized, officials confirmed the campus is now secure, though they advised students and staff to avoid the area temporarily.
Emergency responders, including Norfolk Police and the Washington Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, arrived swiftly at the scene.
